What I know<br />0% Knowledge of writing windows drivers<br />0% Knowledge of filesystem code<br />10% How Captive NTFS work under linux<br />20% How to emulate an os with QEMU<br />50% Howto make basic smb networking work<br /><br />2. Discussion<br />CAPTIVE NTFS<br />The simple description is, that captive ntfs, emulates a windows enviroment, redirecting system calls to this. There by using windows drivers to readwrite NTFS.<br />Why not use this principle the other way round ?<br />Run an embedded linux, under qemu, with no display, and with samba acces ?<br />But wait, theres more.<br />By doing this, i would have a basic Samba server, that can read write anything as long as it isnt NTFS. I would of course filter out fat partitions( no need for reading those)<br />The only thing to watch out fore is to be sure the filesystems are unmounted correctly.<br /><br />3.
